This role requires a hybrid work schedule, i.e. 3 days onsite per week at our Portland office. What You'll Do: You'll have oversight over a team of accounting and treasury professionals who provide timely and accurate deposits, payments, and management reporting for Standard Insurance and its subsidiaries. You'll also be responsible for reviewing accounting transactions and guiding the team through process improvement opportunities. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and support staff in executing the team's goals: develop and maintain efficient and effective workflow and staffing within the department, ensure that transactions are accurate, deadlines are met, and controls are followed. Oversee accounting and reporting of financial data in the following areas: Accounts Receivable (journal entry preparation and processing, account reconciliations); Accounts Payable (invoice processing and purchasing process); Accounting (journal entry preparation and processing); and Treasury (positive pay, stop payments, void and stale checks and escheatment). Oversee multiple tracks of work performed by the team's sourcing partner. This involves ongoing communication with sourcing partner resources and management, driving for automation and efficiency, overseeing SLAs and KPIs and other various performance metrics to ensure quality of work and consistent results. Develop training and cross-training objectives to ensure effectiveness and continuity of department functions; facilitate management and employee understanding of core functions and processes. Lead activities to optimize procedural processes and systems and promote process improvements that result in productivity gains, cost savings, and improved workflow and quality. What You'll Get From Us Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. Five (5) years of progressively responsible accounts payable, financial accounting or related experience and one (1) year of supervisory experience, or the equivalent combination education/experience. Experience with Workday strongly preferred. Robust problem solving and analytical abilities to determine business needs and provide appropriate solutions. Knowledge of controls frameworks and risk analysis models for oversight and approval of key processes. Strong understanding of accounts payable and cash transactions.
